Here’s hoping Netflix’s live streaming abilities can handle Beyoncé

As a die-hard fan of both football and music, this news about Beyoncé performing during the NFL live broadcast on Netflix on Christmas Day has me absolutely thrilled! I mean, who wouldn’t be? The combination of the Queen B and football is simply unbeatable.

This Christmas is already brimming with excitement, but Netflix outdid themselves by securing a top global star for their first ever live NFL broadcast. Instead of Santa Claus being the only one spreading joy on that day, Grammy Award-winning sensation Beyoncé will deliver another breathtaking halftime show on Christmas itself.

On November 17th, I got thrilled to learn that Netflix and the legendary pop icon, Beyoncé, have teamed up! She’ll be gracing us with a performance during the halftime of the Houston Texans vs. Baltimore Ravens game, streaming live on Netflix on Christmas Day (December 25th). As per Netflix, Beyoncé is all set to debut songs from her Grammy-nominated album “Cowboy Carter” for the first time. I’m guessing she’ll also treat us to some of her classic hits as well!

On Christmas Day, Beyoncé performs during one of Netflix’s two NFL games, with the initial match being between the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers, which starts at 1 p.m. ET. The second game featuring the Ravens versus Texans commences at 4:30 ET. Consequently, Beyoncé delights audiences worldwide later that day.

Thus far, specifics about Beyoncé’s performance are being kept under wraps, however, Netflix’s press release hints that the singer might invite some of her famous colleagues who collaborated on the “Cowboy Carter” album to make special guest appearances. The album boasts vocals from Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell, Tiera Kennedy, Willie Nelson, Miley Cyrus, Post Malone, Dolly Parton, Shaboozey, and numerous others.

Can Netflix’s live streaming handle Beyoncé?

Recently, there’s been a lot of concern and annoyance surrounding Netflix’s live streaming capabilities due to issues experienced in their recent live broadcasts. The mishandled “Love is Blind” reunion special and the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight have sparked complaints about poor video quality and the platform crashing entirely. With Christmas approaching, this could be the most challenging test yet for Netflix.

Coming up, two significant NFL games are anticipated to push the boundaries of Netflix’s live streaming capability, potentially attracting its largest concurrent audience ever. The NFL consistently draws a massive viewer base, and the Chiefs vs. Steelers game promises additional star power with Taylor Swift expected to make an appearance, supporting her boyfriend Travis Kelce. In response, the Beyhive is predicted to come out in full support as well.

It’s good news if Netflix has learned from its past challenges in live streaming, ensuring a smooth experience for the NFL Christmas Day games. However, if you prefer a hassle-free viewing experience with no technical glitches, Netflix has suggested alternative methods for fans to watch the games without having to cross their fingers that Netflix won’t encounter any issues and dampen your holiday cheer.

Besides being live-streamed on Netflix, these games will also be aired on traditional TV stations in the cities of Kansas City, Pittsburgh, Houston, and Baltimore. Moreover, for those in the U.S. with mobile devices, streaming is available through NFL+. Consequently, for those who couldn’t catch Beyoncé’s performance on Netflix, alternative viewing options are set up to ensure they don’t miss THE Cowboy Carter show.
