Last month, a video posted by Ron South on YouTube features Henry Cavill engaging in a dialogue scenario, and it currently boasts approximately 150,000 views on the site.
During the audition, 22-year-old Henry Cavill appears wearing long, sleeked-back hair and a leather jacket as he delivers lines intended for James Bond. This brief clip has sparked varied opinions among fans, with some stating that Daniel Craig was undoubtedly a superior choice compared to Cavill.
In the comments section, one user expressed, “Daniel Craig truly excels and adds a unique twist to his portrayal.” Another user, however, suggested, “It’s clear why he didn’t initially land the role.” They further elaborated on Henry Cavill’s audition for James Bond, stating, “He seems to lack the self-assured demeanor. His delivery of lines appears odd or inconsistent.
Conversely, many viewers believe that Henry Cavill has grown as an actor and is now well-suited for the role. One fan even commented, “I think he did alright back then. Now, he’d knock it out of the park.” Another comment suggested, “Henry Cavill would be a fantastic choice for the list of JAMES BOND 007 actors.
Martin Campbell, director of Casino Royale (2006), praised Henry Cavill’s bid for the James Bond role in a 2023 interview with The Express. He said, “Henry was impressive during the audition. His acting skills were outstanding. If Daniel Craig hadn’t been around, Henry would have done a fantastic job as Bond.” However, Campbell later explained why Cavill didn’t get the part, stating that he seemed too young at the time.
