The addition of Henry Cavill to the cast is just the cherry on top of this geeky sundae. I still remember staying up late as a kid to watch the original series, mesmerized by the epic battles and the unparalleled teamwork displayed by the pilots of Voltron.

What else do we know about the Voltron live-action movie?
Earlier news indicated that the upcoming Voltron live-action film will be helmed by director Rawson Marshall Thurber, who’ll work jointly with Ellen Shanman on the screenplay. Todd Lieberman, David Hoberman, and Bob Koplar are set to produce the project under World Events Productions, the entity that currently holds the franchise rights for Voltron’s mecha series.
The Voltron series originates from the Toei Animation mecha anime show, Beast King GoLion, broadcast between 1981 and 1982. This show became known worldwide when it was transformed by World Events Productions and ABC into an English animated television series that aired from 1984 to 1985.
