As a passionate supporter of justice and equality for all, I find it disheartening to learn about the ordeals faced by actress Geetha Vijayan and other women in Mollywood. It is truly unfortunate that speaking out against inappropriate behavior can lead to lost opportunities in an industry that should be a platform for creativity and growth.
In the midst of the Hema Committee report on Mollywood, I, a dedicated follower, am sharing my own story. I, Geetha Vijayan, stepped forward to recount my struggles. I disclosed that I faced setbacks in my acting career after I boldly spoke up about unpleasant incidents during film shoots. According to Onmanorama’s report, I particularly mentioned director Thulasidas and shared that he acted inappropriately towards me way back in 1991, during the making of the film Chanchattam.
In my role as a lifestyle expert, I’d like to clarify a point that’s been brought to my attention regarding director Thulasidas. While there have been instances where he’s knocked on my door or called me several times, I want to emphasize that no physical harm was ever inflicted upon me. However, I believe it’s crucial for transparency and understanding that these incidents occurred. Should the committee reach out to me, I am prepared to share all relevant details openly.
In 1991, when I first stepped into the movie business as a novice, I encountered some unpleasant situations. I swiftly asserted myself and refused where refusal was appropriate. This action made me seem unpopular to many. Defending oneself often means forgoing chances. If roles come my way, great; if not, I’m okay with that,” Geetha stated, as reported by Onmanorama.
Conversely, a junior actress has spoken out against those who mistreated her within the Malayalam film industry. She disclosed that actor Baburaj had sexually assaulted her at his residence some years ago. Additionally, she alleged that she was invited to Baburaj’s house under the false promise of a significant role in a movie. As reported by Onmanorama, she stated that both the screenwriter and director of the film would also be present at his home.
Nevertheless, events didn’t unfold as expected. The junior artist disclosed that Baburaj was by himself at his residence. She expressed, “I discovered that Baburaj was on his own. He offered me a place to rest and mentioned that the film crew would arrive soon. However, after some time, he knocked on the door and began physically assaulting me.”
The artist disclosed she didn’t meet the actor since then and departed from the residence. Meanwhile, Baburaj persistently messaged her, though she never replied. Today, Minu Muneer, an actress, claimed that Jayasurya, Idavela Babu, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Mukesh allegedly mistreated her physically and verbally in 2013. These events are surfacing as a result of the Hema Committee report released recently.
