As a die-hard fan of animated shows and documentaries, I am absolutely thrilled about HBO Max’s upcoming releases for August 12-18, 2024! The addition of Rick and Morty: The Anime to their lineup is like a dream come true for me. Ever since the original series premiered, I have been hooked on this hilarious and mind-bending adventure through dimensions, and I can’t wait to see how the anime adaptation will bring a fresh take on this beloved franchise.
Starting August 16, HBO Max viewers can explore Rick and Morty: The Anime. In this rendition, Rick takes a break in a fictional realm bridging multiverses. Concurrently, Summer and Space Beth engage in conflict with the Galactic Federation, while Morty develops feelings for a secretive girl who turns out to be a time-traveler without Morty’s knowledge.
On August 18th, the documentary “Chimp Crazy” will premiere on HBO Max. This film focuses on Tonia Haddix, a former nurse who transformed into an exotic animal broker, often referred to as the “Dolly Parton of chimps.” In this documentary, we see Haddix dedicating her days to caring for animals in captivity. However, her deep connection and love for one specific chimpanzee lead her into a tricky predicament with authorities and an animal welfare organization.
Also releasing on HBO Max this week as part of its schedule is The Legend of Tarzan.
Titled “The Legend of Tarzan,” this action-packed, fantastical film features Alexander Skarsgard portraying the iconic character. Directed by David Yates and inspired by Edgar Rice Burroughs’ “Tarzan of the Apes,” the narrative unfolds as Tarzan, having settled into a luxurious London life with Jane Porter at his side, is drawn back to his jungle origins to scrutinize a questionable colonial mining venture.
