As a devoted fan of gripping thrillers and captivating love stories, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming release of Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba! Ever since the electrifying cliffhanger of its predecessor left me on the edge of my seat, I’ve been eagerly awaiting this sequel.

In the year 2021, Netflix India debuted the intriguing romantic thriller “Haseen Dillruba,” starring Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey. This film, with its nostalgic tribute and shocking finale, offered a heart-pounding experience that significantly enhanced the genre. The movie’s gripping narrative and unexpected twists left audiences on the edge of their seats, eagerly waiting for more.

At long last, the moment has arrived! The streaming titan is all set to debut the much-awaited follow-up titled “Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba“, on August 9, 2024. Taapsee Pannu and Harshvardhan Rane will reprise their roles as Rani and Rishu, with Sunny Kaushal and Jimmy Shergill joining the ensemble. Under the guidance of director Jayprad Desai, this sequel is certain to intensify the intrigue.

The story shifts to the bustling city of Agra, where Rani and Rishu attempt to rebuild their lives. However, their fresh start is not as simple as they hoped for. The film’s synopsis reveals that their past continues to haunt them: “With authorities on their trail and drops of blood marking their path, their quest takes a dramatic turn with the arrival of Sunny Kaushal’s character, Abhimanyu, introducing a fresh layer of intrigue to the drama. The lovers find new enemies with Jimmy Shergill and many more who want to foil their plans of ‘happily ever after.’”

What happened in Haseen Dillruba?

The movie Haseen Dillruba starts with quite a dramatic scene. Rani Kashyap, played by Taapsee Pannu, races into her home following an explosion, and sadly discovers her husband Rishabh “Rishu” Saxena’s (Vikrant Massey) severed arm among the debris. This intense opening prepares us for a captivating story that explores themes of love, deception, and crime.

The narrative progresses via Rani’s recollections during a police interrogation, hinting at the turbulent marriage with Rishu, who is under suspicion for his cousin Neel’s (Harshvardhan Rane) alleged affair. In her account, Rani weaves a complex tale marked by unexpected events. Originally bound by an arranged union, Rani and Rishu’s relationship started off on unstable ground. Their apparent lack of compatibility led to escalating tension and animosity between them. To make matters worse, Rani’s complaints about Rishu’s shortcomings reached his ears, causing him to distance emotionally. Consequently, he would depart early for work and attend night classes to avoid her.

In the midst of an overwhelming sense of solitude, I found myself ensnared in a clandestine relationship with Neel – a man whose charm and allure were undeniably captivating, providing me with the exhilaration I desperately sought. Yet, this secret romance only served to exacerbate the tension in my already fragile marriage, propelling the narrative of Haseen Dillruba towards a gripping and perilous climax. In due course, I confessed my transgression to Rishu, setting off a chain of events that ultimately led him to Delhi, where he attacked Neel with a screwdriver in a fit of uncontrollable anger. Miraculously, Neel survived the assault, but not before retaliating and leaving Rishu battered. After this altercation, we reconciled, and Rishu returned home, yet not without making it clear that our relationship would never be the same. With a heavy heart, he threatened me, culminating in his decision to kick me out of our shared life.

Haseen Dillruba’s ending explained

At first, Rani considers departing, but then reconsiders in an attempt to make things right again. However, Rishu’s anger escalates into more perilous acts—like placing slippery soap on the stairs or setting up the gas stove to blow up. Shockingly, even with his volatile outbursts, when Rani asks for forgiveness, Rishu surprisingly grants it.

Enraged by allegations made by Rishu, Neel decides to confront Rishu and his partner, Rani. The altercation intensifies when Neel threatens to disclose private photos of Rani. In a heated scuffle, Rani unintentionally strikes Neel with a frozen chunk of mutton, leading to his death. Rather than reporting the incident to the authorities, Rishu suggests they fake Neel’s demise as a means to evade repercussions.

In the style of a thrilling crime story reminiscent of Rani’s beloved pulp novels, they dismantle Neel’s body, discarding both Neel’s limb and Rishu’s own arm to confuse the police investigators. To create an alibi, Rani visits the market, while Rishu sets off an explosion and flees to a nearby river, barely managing to stay alive. As the pieces fall into place, the chief of police uncovers their devious plan, noting its striking similarity to the novel’s conclusion. The last scene shows Rani and Rishu reuniting and embarking on a fresh start in life together.

With Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba’s release this Friday, viewers will now see what awaits the couple.
