Here’s what we know so far about the show’s future and where things currently stand.
Is Wild Cards Season 3 canceled by The CW?
In simpler terms, Wild Cards on The CW hasn’t been officially canceled, but they haven’t made a decision about what will happen with it in the American television market yet.
On May 1, 2025, CBC Television made the announcement that Wild Cards would be returning for Seasons 3 and 4 in Canada. However, as of now, The CW has not decided whether they will continue broadcasting the series past Season 2 in the United States.
TVLine announced earlier that the second season of a show, airing on The CW on May 7 at 8/7c, has already been renewed by CBC before its finale. However, no new information regarding The CW’s decision has been given yet. According to its description, the second season will delve deeper into both the complex criminal cases and the progression of Max and Cole’s relationship.
The TV show Wild Cards features Vanessa Morgan as the trickster Max and Giacomo Gianniotti as the demoted detective Cole. Their characters form an unwilling team to tackle cases, with Max having a chance to make amends. Season 2 brought Martin Sheen onto the scene as Joseph Edwards, a character linked to both Max and her father. Other actors joining in were Ally Sheedy, Marie Avgeropoulos, Katie Findlay, and WWE’s Tony D’Angelo.
The show premiered back in 2024 and quickly garnered attention due to its distinctive duo and the way it handled its cases. The first season earned a perfect rating of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Canadian audiences are looking forward to fresh episodes, but American viewers are yet to hear updates from The CW regarding new seasons.
Presently, Wild Cards is set to resume in Canada, however, its television broadcast in the United States remains undecided. CBC has initiated production, whereas The CW has not yet confirmed their plans for future episodes’ screenings.
