In February 2025, CBS made public its decision to continue NCIS for a record-breaking Season 23, along with programs such as Elsbeth and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. During an exclusive chat with TV Line, the showrunner of NCIS, Steven D. Binder, dished out some teasers regarding the forthcoming season, following the emotionally charged ending of Season 22.
He mentioned that Season 23 won’t have the usual three-month time leap; instead, it will continue directly from where Season 22 ended. In his own words, “I don’t think there’ll be a time jump due to the reasons I’ve explained. We want to keep the intensity around the Parker storyline burning [figuratively]. That’s what we’re currently considering, and our aim is to maintain the narrative momentum.
Actor Wilmer Valderrama, known for his role as Nick Torres, recently talked on CBS Mornings about how the dramatic finale’s ending will impact the upcoming season. He hinted that due to the tragedy, the team may choose to act outside the norm or “go rogue.” Explaining the setup for Season 23, he noted that the goal was to create turmoil in Season 22 and establish the tone for Season 23, stating that this episode does so more effectively than in many previous years.
