Eric Kripke shared with Variety that the production of The Boys Season 5 is scheduled to start in November 2024 and last through mid-2025.
Why Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher leaves The Boys?
Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher leaves The Boys to use the Supe virus and possibly carry out his sinister plan of Supe genocide.
In the gripping finale of The Boys Season 4, I found myself on the edge of my seat as Butcher’s struggle against the sinister influence in his brain reached its boiling point. This malevolent presence had taken the form of an evil hallucination, none other than his late comrade Joe Kessler. Witnessing Ryan’s ruthless and impulsive take-down of Grace Mallory was the final straw that pushed Butcher over the edge. The battle within him had come to an end, and the parasitic tumor had claimed its victory.
After succumbing to the tumor’s wicked power, he takes hold of his newly acquired tentacle skills. Using these newfound abilities, he ends Victoria Neuman’s life, disregarding Hughie’s heartfelt entreaties as she had just joined them in their quest to stop Homelander. Butcher seizes the virus from The Boys and bids them farewell, issuing a subtle warning for them to flee before it’s too late. He then departs to an undisclosed destination to carry out his plan of eliminating all Supes.
In other words, the Butcher is expected to turn into a pure antagonist in Season 5, posing a threat not just to Homelander but also to The Boys.
