Has House of the Dragon foreshadowed Daemon's death?

As a seasoned gamer and a die-hard fan of the Game of Thrones universe, I’ve seen my fair share of dragons, battles, and betrayals. After binge-watching House of the Dragon, I find myself pondering over the fate of one of its most enigmatic characters – Daemon Targaryen. The vision he received in the Season 2 finale hints at a watery demise for our beloved dragon rider.

Following a series of visions, it appeared that Daemon received his final one during the climax of House of the Dragon’s Season 2. This revelation showed him the future, leading him to understand that he must submit to Rhaenyra. Was there also a glimpse in this vision about how he would meet his end?

In this vision, we observed Daemon stumble ahead upon spotting a slain dragon lying below. It appeared as if he tumbled towards a body of water, and his descent seemed to be forced downwards, suggesting a strong pull beneath. Can you interpret what this segment of the vision signifies?

Will Daemon drown in House of the Dragon?

It appears quite likely that Daemon might meet a tragic end involving water in “House of the Dragon”. In the vision, he’s depicted being drawn deep into the water, which suggests either he was lifeless or merely observing the scene in a visionary state. His open eyes could imply he was consciously seeing this event, but it may also be due to the nature of visions themselves.

If Daemon is going to be submerged (or lose under water), it’s an indication that a confrontation is imminent. Naturally, readers are curious about who he’ll face in this battle, and the book provides the answer for us.

How does Daemon die in Fire & Blood?

In the book “Fire & Blood”, it’s possible that Daemon Targaryen meets a watery demise. Here, Daemon and his dragon Caraxes engage in a battle with Aemond and Vhagar. This is when Helaena’s vision transpires. She had warned Aemond about his own death and getting lost at the God’s Eye. It seems both Aemond and someone else might share that fate.

In this battle, both Daemon and Caraxes meet their end. While Daemon’s corpse was never found, some speculate that he miraculously survived and chose not to return to Westeros. Others suggest he escaped to Essos and adopted a new identity – an idea that might be hard for “Fire & Blood” readers to accept, but plausible for “House of the Dragon” viewers.

In the story Fire & Blood, it seems Daemon harbored ambitions for the crown while engaging in battle alongside Rhaenyra. However, in House of the Dragon, we witness him submitting after his vision, suggesting he may have come to terms with the fact that the crown wasn’t meant for him. This understanding could pave the way for him to depart discreetly for Essos, allowing others to assume he’s deceased, thus enabling him to lead a different kind of life in hiding.

Based on our current understanding of Daemon, I prefer to assume that he perishes during his battle with Aemond, as suggested by the vision shown in the Season 2 finale of “House of the Dragon.”
