As a passionate fan, I can’t help but wonder if we might be in store for more of “Dying for Sex” in a second season? The intense and heartfelt debut of this FX series on Hulu has left many viewers eagerly waiting for any news about its future. With all eight episodes premiering on April 4, 2025, the question on everyone’s lips is whether Molly’s journey will continue past the finale.
Here’s what we know about the show’s status.
Is Dying for Sex Season 2 canceled by FX and Hulu?
FX and Hulu will not produce a second season of Dying for Sex.
The creators unveiled Dying for Sex, an American comedy-drama limited series, which will air its entire first and final season on April 4, 2025, exclusively on FX on Hulu. In this adaptation of the popular podcast, Michelle Williams takes on the role of Molly, while Jenny Slate portrays Nikki. Notably, both characters were created by Nikki Boyer and Molly Kochan, who tragically passed away in 2019 due to metastatic breast cancer. The miniseries consists of eight episodes that will all be released at once.
As a gamer, I’d rephrase it like this: “My story unfolds around me, a woman named Molly who discovers she has Stage IV breast cancer and chooses to part ways with her 15-year-long marriage. In the precious time left, I delve deeper into my sexuality, a journey prompted by a surprise side effect from hormone treatment – an intensified libido. This is inspired by the real Molly Kochan, who co-created the original podcast and confessed, ‘I felt like humping everything and everyone I saw.’
Molly’s investigations encompass interactions with males she encounters online, such as one who desires to be handled like a household pet. Nikki Boyer revealed that the character was inspired by a genuine individual Kochan came across who requested to reside in a cage within her home. Boyer explained, “When Molly felt overwhelmed, she engaged in some truly amusing activities with men.
2024 saw the commencement of production in New York City. The principal actors are Rob Delaney, David Rasche, Esco Jouléy, Jay Duplass, Kelvin Yu, and Sissy Spacek. From April 4, 2025, you can start streaming all eight episodes on Hulu and Disney+.
