If the show fulfills most of these criteria, it’s likely to be renewed. However, for Dope Thief, while it has garnered positive reviews, its viewership doesn’t measure up to other Apple TV+ successes like Severance. This could potentially make its renewal difficult.

In a chat with Radio Times, showrunner Craig admitted that not all of Dennis Tafoya’s 2009 novel was followed in the adaptation. The initial portion honored the original work, but the later sections branched out and used creative freedom.

He also mentions, “The second tale is absent in this version. Instead, it’s solely the first story that runs throughout, with numerous alterations in the latter part. Dennis appears satisfied with this, so I believe we’re good. I typically ensure authors are comfortable with every change I make, and he seemed to be on the same page as me.
