Harry Potter’s Tom Felton Returns as Draco Malfoy, but Not in Movies

At the 2025 Gotham Television Awards, Tom Felton hinted at his comeback as Draco Malfoy. During an interview on the red carpet, he revealed that he would reprise his legendary character on Broadway, signifying a fresh era in the Harry Potter universe.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway to add Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy

As a devoted Potterhead, I’m thrilled to share that I, Tom Felton, will be stepping back into the shoes of Draco Malfoy for the Broadway run of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” starting November 11, 2025! This is not only my Broadway debut but also a return to portraying Draco since the last Harry Potter film in 2011. I can hardly wait to revisit this magical world once again!

Felton expressed that it feels like a dream come true for him to reprise his character after 16 years. This time, however, he gets to wear the shoes of this character as a father, not just as an actor. He also mentioned that the play is entirely distinct from the Harry Potter films, as we are no longer playing children, but parents instead.

19 years after the initial series, the story unfolds with mature versions of Harry, Draco, Ron, and Hermione sending their offspring to Hogwarts. Daniel Radcliffe’s co-star from the original movie, Alfie Allen (Draco Malfoy), is set to make his debut in the Broadway adaptation. “Being part of this production feels like coming full circle for me,” he expressed.

1) In a statement, the play’s producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender expressed that Tom returning to Hogwarts connects generations of fans and gives a fresh spin to an adored tale. Felton emotionally shared his experience of putting on Draco’s wig once more: “As soon as I did, I couldn’t help but cry. It was like being transported back in time.

The Lyric Theatre in New York City will be showing the play until March 22, 2026. Tickets for presale go on sale at 11 a.m. ET on June 10, and general sales begin on June 12. Since its premiere in London in 2016, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has become Broadway’s top-earning non-musical play.
