Harrison Ford ‘Still Happy’ Indiana Jones 5 Got Made Despite Box Office Flop

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but echo Harrison Ford’s sentiment: I’m genuinely thrilled that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny was brought to life on the big screen, regardless of its box office performance.

As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled to share that “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” the latest addition to the iconic Indiana Jones series, hit U.S. theaters in June 2023. This is the only film in the franchise not directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg. Instead, the reins were taken by James Mangold, who’s best known for “Logan” and “A Complete Unknown.

In April 2024, as reported by Forbes, the movie earned roughly $384 million globally at the box office, but Disney ended up with a loss of about $134 million due to the film’s high production costs.

What did Harrison Ford say about Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny?

In a conversation with the Wall Street Journal, Ford expressed his continued satisfaction for having been involved in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, despite its lack of popularity among audiences.

Ford expressed that unexpected events occur sometimes. He felt there was a different tale to be told about Indy. After Indy faced the repercussions of his life, Ford wanted an opportunity to dust off his shoulders and send him back out there, somewhat weakened, to see what would transpire next. Despite his age, he’s glad he made that film.

Right now, you can stream Indiana Jones 5 on Disney+. In this movie, Phoebe Waller-Bridge plays Helena Shaw, Mads Mikkelsen takes the role of Dr. Jürgen Voller, Antonio Banderas is Renaldo, John Rhys-Davies returns as Sallah, Toby Jones portrays Basil Shaw, Boyd Holbrook acts as Klaber, Karen Allen reprises her character Marion Ravenwood, Ethann Isidore plays Teddy Kumar, and Anthony Ingruber appears as the young Indiana Jones.

In the upcoming Marvel movie, Captain America: Brave New World, scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day 2025, William Hurt will reprise his role as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross/Red Hulk, played by Ford previously.
