As a lifelong fan of Adam Sandler’s hilarious antics and a die-hard sports enthusiast, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the upcoming sequel to “Happy Gilmore”! The addition of NFL star Travis Kelce and director Benny Safdie to the cast is a stroke of genius. It’s not every day that we get to see our favorite comedian team up with an athletic powerhouse like Kelce, not to mention the talented Safdie brothers.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m super stoked to share some exciting news about Happy Gilmore 2! The legendary Adam Sandler himself has spilled the beans about two new faces joining the cast for this long-awaited sequel. Can’t wait to see who they are and what hilarious antics they’ll bring to the table!
In his latest interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Adam Sandler announced that football star Travis Kelce will make a brief appearance in the movie. This comes after Kelce humorously requested a part in the film earlier this year.
“Travis has . . . he mentioned it, so we have a nice something for Travis,” Sandler said.
Initially, Kelce expressed his interest in starring in the movie through his podcast, New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce. In May, as rumors swirled about the upcoming release of the film, Travis playfully declared that he’d be willing to take any role, even if it meant appearing as an extra.
In a different conversation with IndieWire, Sandler revealed that director Benny Safdie will be playing an interesting role in the upcoming film. Sandler and Safdie previously collaborated on the successful drama “Uncut Gems,” a project that Safdie co-directed with his brother, Josh.
Who else is in the Happy Gilmore 2 cast?
At the moment, details regarding the movie and its ensemble are sparse. Approximately two months ago, it was announced that the project was underway, but since then, information has been slow to surface. It’s been confirmed that Adam Sandler will reprise his role as the main character, and Christopher McDonald, who played Shooter McGavin, disclosed in March that he had read a draft of the script.
Under the guidance of director Dennis Dugan, the comedy movie titled Happy Gilmore premiered in U.S. cinemas during February 1996. The film proved to be a profitable venture for Universal Pictures, generating around $39 million worldwide with a projected production cost of about $12 million.
As for the sequel to “Happy Gilmore”, there’s no set release date as of now. However, you can catch the original “Happy Gilmore” on Netflix at the moment.
