As a devoted fan of the iconic sports comedy genre, I am absolutely thrilled about the return of Ben Stiller as Hal L. in the long-awaited Happy Gilmore 2! The first film was a staple of my childhood, with its blend of hilarious slapstick humor and unforgettable characters that have left an indelible mark on pop culture.
In the upcoming film “Happy Gilmore 2”, Ben Stiller will rejoin the cast as they continue the golf-themed storyline by Adam Sandler. Previously in “Happy Gilmore”, Stiller portrayed Hal L., a cunning nursing home employee responsible for taking care of Happy’s grandmother.
As I scrolled through the freshly-released images, there it was – Stiller donning a sleek black vest emblazoned with “Hal L.” on it. Sporting his signature handlebar mustache and matching yellow shades, it seemed like Hal himself had stepped into the scene.

Who is in the Happy Gilmore 2 cast?
In the sequel of “Happy Gilmore,” Adam Sandler reprises his role as the main character, Happy – a previous hockey player who switches to golf when he needs funds to save his grandmother’s home. His unconventional golf style and boisterous conduct stir up the Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) Tour, making him an instant crowd favorite.
In addition to Sandler and Stiller, actors returning from the original Happy Gilmore movie for the sequel include Christopher McDonald playing Shooter McGavin, who is both Happy’s main golf rival on the PGA Tour and his romantic interest’s boss (Virginia Venit, portrayed by Julie Bowen).
In the lineup for the cast of Happy Gilmore 2 are some new faces: Benito Martínez Ocasio (also known as Bad Bunny), Nick Swardson, Benny Safdie, Margaret Qualley, Maxwell Jacob Friedman from AEW (MJF), Scott Mescudi who is also known as Kid Cudi, Travis Kelce, and John Daly.
In a new development, it’s Kyle Newacheck (known for ‘Murder Mystery’) who will be steering the direction of ‘Happy Gilmore 2’, a script jointly penned by Adam Sandler and Tim Herlihy. The production team includes Sandler, Herlihy, Robert Simonds, and Jack Giarraputo. Unlike the original movie from Universal Studios, ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ is being produced by Netflix.
1996 saw the debut of Happy Gilmore, one of Adam Sandler’s early film roles following his stint on Saturday Night Live. This golf-themed comedy raked in more than $41 million at the box office, outperforming its production budget of $12 million.
Happy Gilmore 2 is currently in production. The film will stream on Netflix at a later date.
