This week, I was thrilled to pop up on streamer XQC’s live broadcast unexpectedly! We chatted about numerous intriguing topics, and eventually, we touched upon the prospect of Hancock 2. Guess what? There’s an amazing concept for a sequel that’s been tossed around, and I hinted at the possibility of Zendaya being approached to join the cast in some capacity for this film. First appearing on screens in 2008, the movie titled Hancock stars Smith as John Hancock, a protagonist grappling with amnesia, alcoholism, and reckless behavior, all while being a superhero. His character is searching for answers about his past. Co-starring Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman, this film offered an alternative perspective on the superhero genre. Despite mixed reviews from critics, the movie was well-received by audiences, becoming the fourth highest-grossing film of 2008 with box office earnings exceeding $629 million worldwide.
Ever since its debut, whispers about a potential follow-up have persisted occasionally. Back in 2009, Columbia Pictures brought on Adam Fierro and Glen Mazzara to script the sequel, but things never materialized. Later in 2012, Peter Berg expressed his intent to direct a movie, and more recently in 2020, Charlize Theron also revealed her continued interest in the project if it were ever revived.
