In the previous year, the Halo World Championship event was a thrilling spectacle for enthusiasts, as they not only witnessed the crowning of a world champion but also caught a glimpse of where the Halo series is headed. The main announcement involved transitioning to Unreal Engine 5, following the rebranding of Halo Studios (previously known as 343 Industries). There’s been buzz about whether this year’s HCS will feature a similar unveiling, and that question was tackled on Monday.
The following was posted to Halo Waypoint by Esports Lead Tahir “Tashi” Hasandjekic:
For several weeks now, there has been much discussion regarding potential release dates and locations for further details of the various projects that Halo Studios are currently developing. Typically, we do not comment on such topics, but this time we feel compelled to chime in and offer some additional insights for Halo enthusiasts who might be debating whether or not to attend this year’s event.
In the previous Halo World Championship (HaloWC), we introduced “A New Dawn”, discussing our transition to Unreal Engine, offering a glimpse into Project Foundry’s development process, and unveiling our transformation into Halo Studios as we embark on a new era for Halo. For us, “A New Dawn” marked the start of many discussions, and this year at HaloWC, we are excited to carry on that conversation further.
Instead of guessing, it’s more exciting! But for the actual details about what 343 Industries (Halo Studios) have been developing, mark your calendars for this year’s Halo World Championship. We genuinely invite you to be a part of the event happening in Seattle this October!
At the Halo World Championship 2024 Grand Finals, Halo Studios unveiled a glimpse of the upcoming Halo series on Unreal Engine 5 through their Project Foundry presentation. This marks a departure from the Halo franchise’s long-time use of its own Slipspace Engine, as the developer has acknowledged its outdated nature. The most significant implication of this unveiling is that multiple new Halo games are being developed simultaneously, some of which are intended for future Xbox platforms.
Hey gamers! Exciting news – tickets for the Halo World Championship 2025 are available now with early bird discounts ending soon, specifically by the end of Monday, June 30th. Stay tuned to Shacknews for all the upcoming Halo developments; we’ll be sure to keep you updated!
