Last week, Halo Studios announced a major update: a remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, built in Unreal Engine 5. The game, titled Halo: Campaign Evolved, will be available on Xbox, PC, and, for the first time ever, PlayStation 5 next year. This also means that future Halo titles are planned for release on the PlayStation platform.
During the Halo World Championships last week, Halo Community Director Brian Jarrard announced that Halo: Combat Evolved will be released on PlayStation 5. He made the announcement while wearing a PlayStation-branded t-shirt, confirming Halo’s future presence on the platform.
Okay, so everyone completely lost it when they announced Halo was coming to PlayStation! Seriously, the post on X got over 12 million views – it was insane. Even GameStop jumped in, saying the whole ‘console war’ thing is officially over. It’s a huge deal, and honestly, I never thought I’d see the day!
This confirms that the next Halo game, whenever it’s released – whether on the PS5 or a future PlayStation console – will be available on PlayStation platforms alongside Xbox. While we likely won’t see a new Halo for a few years after Halo Infinite, it will be released on both Xbox and PlayStation.
