Halo Infinite’s second new weapon leaked after three years of release

As a dedicated Halo fan with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and excitement at the prospect of the MA5K Avenger joining the arsenal in Halo Infinite. This weapon has been a staple in the series’ novels for years, yet it has never graced our screens in any game before. It’s like we’ve been waiting for this moment since reading Ghosts of Onyx back in 2007!

In simple terms, a fresh weapon is set to debut for the free-to-play, multiplayer shooter Halo Infinite on Xbox. Approximately three years post its initial release, there’s been a leak of what appears to be the game’s second new weapon, uncovered during a recent data search.

New Halo Infinite weapon

343 Industries, over a year since the launch of the Bandit DMR, introduces another human weapon in Halo Infinite. Unlike expanding the collection of Banished/Covenant weapons or introducing a fresh vehicle like the leaked Falcon, 343 Industries is opting to introduce a new human submachine gun into the game.

In a recent update for the ongoing game, developers unearthed hints about a fresh MA5K Submachine Gun. Although it isn’t available in Halo Infinite yet, this weapon has been a recurring element in the Halo novels throughout their history.

As a gaming enthusiast, I usually keep my mouth shut about upcoming releases, but here’s a scoop: The “Avenger” is rumored to join the lineup in Infinite Warfare. Since it’s listed under the SMG category, I can’t help but speculate that it might be an SMG weapon.

The MA5K submachine gun is introduced in the 2007 book “Ghosts of Onyx,” and it significantly features in “The Rubicon Protocol,” one of the two prequels for “Infinite.” Interestingly, this weapon has never been used in a Halo game prior to this. Although concept art for the weapon is available, neither Bungie nor 343 Industries have incorporated it into any of their games, including “Halo Wars.”

In the data of Halo Infinite, there are now several mentions of the MA5K Avenger. Given that it has been categorized as a submachine gun within the game, it’s not likely to be a modification for the current MA5B assault rifle. Yet, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the MA5K Avenger will be available in-game.

Scrapped Infinite weapons

Through extensive data digging, enthusiasts have unearthed numerous abandoned weapons and vehicles within the most recent Halo title. Included in this discovery is the Falcon, as well as a Brute shotgun, the reappearance of the Spiker, and several other weapons that were eliminated during the development process.

Over the last two years, a good number of the weapons and vehicles that were once leaked have been taken out of Infinite’s database. Given that the MA5K Avenger is one of the initial fresh additions to the game since the Bandit DMR’s release, it’s possible that this new weapon could appear in Halo Infinite soon.

As Infinite’s anniversary draws near, now is an excellent opportunity to infuse the game with fresh content, rejuvenating the multiplayer experience. Since Halo 7 isn’t expected for a few more years, there’s plenty of life left in Infinite yet.
