As a dedicated fan of Hallmark Channel and its heartwarming holiday movies, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and disappointment regarding the upcoming launch of Hallmark+. The new platform, which is set to replace Hallmark Movies Now, promises a unique blend of consumer benefits and engaging content. While the perks are enticing, it’s the content that truly has me hooked.
If you’re among the many people who regularly watch Hallmark Channel, along with its variants Hallmark Family and Hallmark Mysteries, then the upcoming debut of Hallmark+ in September is definitely something you’re eagerly anticipating.
The updated platform, set to replace Hallmark Movies Now within a few months, is described as a service that caters to both consumers’ demands and viewers’ preferences. Essentially, it offers a membership program with tangible benefits such as reward points redeemable in retail stores and unexpected gifts.
As a dedicated gamer, I’m always excited about new releases, but what truly piques my interest is the upcoming content on Hallmark+. I can hardly wait for shows like “The Chicken Sisters,” Hallmark’s first holiday TV series, “Holidazed.” I’m also looking forward to the movie trilogy “Groomsmen.” But there’s one thing that’s been on my mind: will the beloved Hallmark Channel tradition, “Countdown to Christmas,” be part of the streaming lineup too?
As a dedicated fan, I can tell you that the Hallmark Channel is renowned for its exceptional movie lineup during the holiday season. Instead of merely checking out what Lifetime or Great American Family have in store, I, along with countless others, eagerly anticipate and return to Hallmark Channel year after year for their captivating films and new releases. Unfortunately, if you were hoping to stream these delightful productions on Hallmark+, that’s not currently an available option.
Lisa Hamilton Daly, EVP of programming at Hallmark Media, confirmed as much to Variety.
‘Countdown to Christmas’ remains a linear experience. The content on the app is going to be ‘Holidazed,’ ‘Mistletoe Murders,’ our unscripted shows and a couple of movie trilogies coming up that we haven’t announced yet. There’s going to be a bunch of holiday content, but it’s going to be separate and different from what’s on linear.
As a long-time fan of Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and Hallmark Channel, I understand that many viewers, including myself, have been eagerly anticipating the launch of Hallmark+, the new streaming platform from Hallmark Media. However, based on recent reports, it seems that while the linear channels and streaming service will share the same branding, they will offer largely distinct and separate content.
As a long-time fan of Hallmark movies, I have often found myself eagerly anticipating new releases during the holiday season and throughout the year. However, I have noticed that Hallmark+ originals seem to lack a consistent release schedule, which can be disappointing at times.
