Halle Berry Talks Herpes Misdiagnois, Had ‘Dry Vagina Syndrome’

Halle Berry recently shared details about a health problem she encountered that was initially misdiagnosed as shingles.

Recently, I found myself reminiscing about an unusual experience during a guest spot on The Drew Barrymore Show (thanks to the Independent for the coverage). One particular morning, I encountered an odd difficulty while trying to relieve myself, and it surprisingly took around 10 minutes to completely empty my bladder.

In the morning, Berry attempted to use the restroom but found it extremely uncomfortable. Whenever he tried to release even a small amount, he still couldn’t. He ended up having to apply pressure… It required nearly 10 minutes for him to finally empty his bladder.

What did Halle Berry say about her herpes misdiagnosis?

Following a visit to the doctor alongside her companion, she was taken aback when the doctor revealed she had contracted herpes. This revelation led her and her partner into a cycle of accusations, lasting approximately three days.

Berry explained, “We were trying to determine who had passed it on to me, and to whom I had given it. Later on, my doctor phoned me with the news: ‘You are free of herpes.’

After three days, Berry’s doctor phoned with the news that she did not have herpes, yet he was uncertain about what she might be suffering from instead. This left Berry to investigate the matter herself.

Berry shared, “This instance was pivotal for me. I remember thinking, ‘What on earth is this?’ He replied, ‘I’m not sure, it just seemed like that.’ This prompted me to conduct my own investigation, my own research. And it was then that I discovered the condition known as dry vagina syndrome, which affects women during perimenopause. It suddenly hit me, ‘Wow, I’m 54-years-old. I never knew that perimenopause can begin in your late 30s and early 40s. At that point, it seemed no one had truly discussed this topic seriously.

Looking back, I can’t help but hope that my journey serves as a learning experience for other women gamers out there who might find themselves in similar unfamiliar situations. Just as I did, they too can turn challenges into opportunities for growth and empowerment.

Berry expressed that her doctor was unaware and hadn’t warned her, prompting her realization: “I need to leverage my influence, be true to myself, and strive to bring about positive change for other women.
