Halle Berry Is Open To Playing Catwoman Again, Under One Condition

As a long-time admirer of Halle Berry‘s talent and resilience, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement at the prospect of seeing her reprise the role of Catwoman. The 2004 film may not have been universally well-received, but it certainly had its charm, especially for those who appreciated its quirky premise and Berry’s captivating performance.

Back in 2004, I was captivated by the groundbreaking film adaptation of Catwoman, with the talented Halle Berry donning the iconic role. At that time, comic book movies were still finding their footing and not quite commanding the respect they do today.

The film failed spectacularly, both at the box office and according to critics. The storyline was incredibly strange given its premise.

In the flick I watched, it was my mission as a gamer to thwart a nefarious cosmetics corporation. They were planning to launch a deadly facemask, designed to harm women. The film, unfortunately, earned a Golden Raspberry Award that very year.

But Halle Berry would like to pick up the role again.

Catwoman, Played And Directed By Halle Berry

On The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, Halle Berry responded to a query regarding her thoughts on the movie that recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.

I loved it. It got panned. The critics said it sucked balls. And balls aren’t that bad.

She was nevertheless happy about young people sharing clips of the movie online:

What I’m happy about is that the children have found it now on the internet, and they love it. So, it’s so vindicating. Because now they’re saying it’s cool and what the heck was everybody’s problem with it? I’m so brat now!

To whether she would like to return to the character, she said:

Maybe… if I could direct it.

Berry continues the conversation, discussing her film “Bruised,” released in 2020. She not only played the main role but also took on the responsibilities of directing it.

She said:

If I can get ahold of that now, knowing what I know, having had this experience [on Bruised], and reimagine that world the way I reimagined this story.
I wish I could go back and reimagine Catwoman and redo that. Have a redo on that, now knowing what I know.

It’d undoubtedly be thrilling to witness Halle Berry’s potential if given complete reign over that project. A well-executed Catwoman film could significantly enhance the character as we haven’t yet seen a truly captivating live-action portrayal of Catwoman beforehand.

What do you think? Would you like to see a new Catwoman movie?
