Gwyneth Paltrow Talks Acting Return: ‘It’s Different When You’re Reprising an Avengers Thing’

Gwyneth Paltrow will appear in an upcoming movie titled “Marty Supreme,” marking her return to film acting after more than ten years. Although this doesn’t include her work within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she considers that separately.

What did Gwyneth Paltrow say about her acting return?

In an interview with Vanity Fair, I shared my thoughts about returning to a role that required me to fully commit, much like I did in 2010’s “Country Strong.” For me, that was the last time I felt I was putting everything on the line and tapping into a level of vulnerability that is deeply personal.

As a gamer, I may not have acted alongside Gwyneth Paltrow in any video game roles yet, but off-screen, she’s been quite busy. Contrary to some opinions, she’s starred in numerous films since 2010, even lending her talent to Marvel Studios projects such as the Iron Man series and various Avengers flicks. However, what sets her upcoming project, Marty Supreme, apart from these superhero movies is evidently something she finds unique.

“It’s different when you’re reprising an Avengers thing,” said Paltrow.

Marty Supreme is a joint creation by directors Josh Safdie and Ronald Bronstein. The film features actors such as Penn Jillette, Odessa Young, Kevin O’Leary, Abel Ferrara, and Sandra Bernhard. Besides Safdie, Bronstein, and Timothée Chalamet, the production team also includes Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, and A24.

According to Deadline’s report, the film was initially believed to be a biographical movie about the unconventional ping-pong player Marty Reisman. However, it seems that the movie might not strictly follow his life story. Instead, it is being marketed as a blend between “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Catch Me If You Can,” suggesting a more loosely based narrative.

Back in 2008, I, a passionate film enthusiast, made my mark as a feature film director for the first time with “The Pleasure of Being Robbed.” Since then, alongside my talented brother, Benny, we’ve created an impressive collection of movies, such as “Good Time” from 2017 and “Uncut Gems” in 2019. Now, it seems that we’re venturing on separate paths, with Benny currently working on a project titled “The Smashing Machine,” which features none other than the legendary Dwayne Johnson.
