Gwyneth Paltrow Cast in Timothée Chalamet & Josh Safdie Ping Pong Movie Marty Supreme

As a gamer with a keen eye for movies and a heart full of nostalgia, I must say that the news of Gwyneth Paltrow joining the cast of Marty Supreme has me all fired up! With her extensive background in film and TV, from Hook to The Politician, she’s proven time and again that she can bring any character to life.

Gwyneth Paltrow has joined the cast of Marty Supreme.

An upcoming movie titled “Marty Supreme,” produced by A24, focuses on the exciting world of table tennis. The talented Josh Safdie will be at the helm as director, and the gifted Timothée Chalamet has secured a significant role within the film.

Per Deadline, Paltrow has now been tapped to play an undisclosed character in the film.

Since her portrayal of Pepper Potts in Avengers: Endgame in 2019, this is Gwyneth Paltrow’s first significant acting role with substantial screen time; however, she did appear in a small voice-over role as herself in the 2022 film, She H Ulk.

In addition to her roles as Pepper in various Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, Gwyneth Paltrow is well-recognized for her performances in films such as Hook (1991), Seven (1995), Emma (1996), Shakespeare in Love (1998), The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), The Royal Tenenbaums (2001), Contagion (2011), and many others.

On television, Paltrow has appeared in series such as Glee, The Politician, and other titles.

What else do we know about Marty Supreme?

Plot details for Marty Supreme are being kept largely under wraps at this time.

The movie seems to have drawn some influence from the life of table tennis pro Marty Reisman, who was alive between 1930 and 2012. However, it has been made clear through an official statement that Gwyneth Paltrow’s casting is not for a biographical film about Marty Reisman, but rather for a work of fiction titled “Marty Supreme.”

In collaboration with Ronald Bronstein, Safdie wrote the screenplay for the film. Besides Bronstein, they both act as producers along with Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, Chalamet, and A24.

Josh and Benny Safdie have become renowned for their collaboration on films such as Good Time (2017) and Uncut Gems (2019). However, they are currently working separately: Benny is focusing on The Smashing Machine, a 2025 project featuring Dwayne Johnson, while Josh is teaming up with Adam Sandler for a movie about baseball card collecting.

A release date for Marty Supreme has not yet been announced by A24.
