Gundam & Evangelion Collab: Release Date Announced!

Over the weekend, I got some exciting news as a gamer – I’ve learned that I’ll be getting my hands on Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- way sooner than expected! The folks at GKIDS have secured the rights for its North American release and have officially set the premiere date for next month. Can’t wait to jump into the cockpit and experience this new adventure!

When is the Mobile Suit GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- release date?

The release date for the movie titled “The Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-” has been scheduled for February 28, 2025. This much-awaited project marks the first significant collaboration between Studio Khara, created by Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno, and Sunrise, the studio known for Mobile Suit Gundam.

The film was helmed by director Kazuya Tsurumaki, famous for his contributions to the Evangelion and FLCL animated series. The screenplay for this movie was penned by Yoji Enokido, while Hideaki Anno also contributed to the script.

The film was produced by compiling previously aired episodes of the upcoming anime series “Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX” and debuted in Japan on January 17, 2025.

Amate Yuzuriha, a student in a tranquil space colony, finds herself embroiled in an underground mech combat sport called Clan Battle when she encounters a war refugee named Nyaan. Using the GQuuuuuuX, Amate fights fiercely each day under the alias ‘Machu.’ However, things take a turn when an unknown Gundam mobile suit and its pilot, Shuji, show up. This boy and his mysterious mobile suit bring about significant changes to their world.
