As a longtime fan of Guilty Gear and Cyberpunk, I was absolutely thrilled by the announcement of Lucy joining the roster of Strive as the game’s first official guest character. Having grown up playing Guilty Gear and immersing myself in the rich cyberpunk universe of CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077, this crossover feels like a dream come true.
Before the Top 6 finale of Guilty Gear Strive at EVO 2024 on Sunday, Arc System Works had an exciting revelation in store. The upcoming addition to the anime fighter roster is noteworthy as it signifies a groundbreaking moment for the series – Lucy, the new character, will be its inaugural guest character. She originates from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the acclaimed anime adaptation of CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077.
In the upcoming Season 4 of Guilty Gear Strive, Lucy’s hidden side will be unveiled. This update, scheduled for October, will bring back fan-favorite characters such as Queen Dizzy. Additionally, Venom and newcomer Unika are set to join the roster at a later date in 2025. Players can also anticipate the introduction of fresh gameplay elements and modes, including Team of 3 Mode for online battles.
As a long-time fan of Guilty Gear and fighting games in general, I’m thrilled to hear that Arc System Works’ latest installment, Guilty Gear Strive, will continue to receive new content for another year. Having followed this game since its release, I’ve been impressed by the high-quality updates and additions they’ve already brought to the table.
