Grrr OTT Release: When and where to watch Kunchacko Boban and Suraj Venjaramoodu starrer comedy flick

As a long-time film enthusiast who has seen my fair share of Malayalam cinema, I must say that the upcoming release of Grrr on Disney+ Hotstar is quite intriguing. The blend of survival, comedy, and a touch of reality with the 2018 Thiruvananthapuram Zoo incident makes it an interesting watch.

At last, the highly anticipated Malayalam movie titled “Grrr” featuring Kunchacko Boban and Suraj Venjaramoodu will be premiering on OTT platforms. This humorous survival film was skillfully directed by Jay K, who is renowned for his work in “Ezra”. Actor Arya also played a significant role as co-producer of this exciting production.

Starting August 20, 2024, you can stream this movie on Disney+ Hotstar. They officially announced the movie’s online release via a post on their own social media platform, which used to be known as Twitter.

The movie Grrr narrates the story of Rejimon Nadar, played by Kunchacko Boban, who experiences heartache when his girlfriend ends their relationship due to caste issues. Overwhelmed with sorrow, he turns to drinking and unwittingly finds himself in a dangerous situation – stuck inside a lion’s enclosure at the zoo.

Meanwhile, while grappling with personal issues, Haridas Nair, a zoo worker, endeavors to save Rejimon’s life, unintentionally finding himself trapped alongside him inside the enclosure. This predicament prompts them both to come up with amusing strategies for evading the lion, with local news crews capturing the entire escapade on camera.

In addition to the main cast, the movie features several other notable actors such as Shruti Ramachandran playing Mridula Nair, Anagha, Rajesh Madhavan, Manju Pillai, Shobi Thilakan, Senthil Krishna, Alencier Ley Lopez, Ramesh Pisharody, and more in significant roles. The film garnered a mix of opinions from critics and is inspired by the real events surrounding a lion’s escape from the Thiruvananthapuram Zoo in 2018.

On the acting front, Suraj Venjaramoodu recently appeared in the film Adios Amigo, sharing the screen with Asif Ali. This humorous and emotional production was helmed by Nahas Nazar and boasted a talented ensemble cast including Anagha, Vineeth Thattil David, Althaf Salim, Shine Tom Chacko, Nandu, Ganapathi, among others, in pivotal roles.

As a long-time fan of Malayalam cinema, I am thrilled to see Kunchacko Boban’s upcoming roles in Bougainvillea and other films. Having grown up watching his performances, it is fascinating to witness his growth as an actor and his ability to take on diverse characters. Playing the lead role alongside Fahadh Faasil in Bougainvillea promises to be a captivating collaboration that I can’t wait to see unfold. Additionally, Kunchacko’s appearances in Varaham and Chiyaan Vikram’s Veera Dheera Sooran further solidify his versatility as an actor, making me even more eager to follow his career progression. I believe that Kunchacko’s life experiences have undoubtedly contributed to his remarkable talent, and I am excited to see what he brings to these upcoming projects.

In this movie helmed by Amal Neerad, we see the comeback of the accomplished actress Jyothirmayi to the silver screen. Furthermore, notable personalities like Sharaf U Dheen, Veena Nandakumar, and Srinda are cast in significant parts within the film.
