As a seasoned gamer who’s seen his fair share of plot twists and cliffhangers, I must say that the enigma surrounding Lois in Grotesquerie has me intrigued to no end! The line between reality and illusion is blurred so thickly here, it makes Alice’s tea party look like a clear-cut picnic.
Among the primary uncertainties in the realm of Grotesquerie, there remains a significant debate regarding the fate of Lois at the conclusion of the initial season. The possibilities include whether she’s still in a coma, has passed away, or is living in reality. Each scenario presents compelling evidence, and Lois herself appears to be just as perplexed as the viewers about her actual state. Let us examine the available clues and contemplate which theory holds the most weight.
Is Lois still in a coma in Grotesquerie?
In the final episode of Grotesquerie, Lois begins to think she’s either deceased or in a coma. However, it’s later discovered that one of her assumptions was incorrect. Towards the end of the show, Megan discloses that she concealed Justin’s death following an incident where Lois shot him.
Indeed, there are clear indications that Lois is not in our ordinary reality. The most compelling proof that she might still be in a coma, deceased, or inhabiting an alternate dimension is the replication of the Grotesquerie murders. Although we only witness recreations of the first and second murders by the series finale, they bear such an uncanny resemblance to those Lois experienced during her coma that it seems almost inconceivable for someone else to have managed such a precise reproduction. Even with Dr. Witticomb’s interviews having been shared with hundreds of people, it would be highly improbable for anyone to replicate the scenes so accurately.
Furthermore, after Lois wakes up from her coma, her relationships appear quite dreamlike. Specifically, Lois tells Dr. Witticomb that it was unlike Marshall to suggest they, he, and Redd live together as a trio – a proposition she found out of character for him.
Although we don’t possess absolute evidence as to whether Lois is still in a coma or if she has passed away and gone to some form of afterlife resembling hell, the bizarre events suggest it’s improbable that she’s living in our reality. Let’s hope for a second season that provides us with the clarity we desire without prolonging the suspense.
