As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast with a soft spot for Western dramas, I must say that the trailer for Somewhere in Montana piqued my interest right from the get-go! Graham McTavish’s portrayal of a cattle rancher in the rugged landscapes of Montana is reminiscent of the classic cowboy flicks I grew up watching.

What is Somewhere in Montana about?
In the storyline, Montana rancher John Alexander (McTavish), facing the possibility of losing his land, consents to allow a movie crew to film on his property. He disagrees with the urban cast and crew on various matters, including the racy script and their careless handling of props. The film’s relentless director, Fabian (Matt Drago), is determined to push through and complete his project. Tensions rise between them, but eventually, they find common ground. Alexander agrees to trust Fabian, and Fabian believes he can finally finish the movie—that is, until a startling event halts production entirely. A crestfallen Fabian attempts to resurrect the project, but due to the incident, no one is willing to be involved.
In Montana’s setting, Michelle Hurd (known from Star Trek: Picard and Ash vs Evil Dead), Jonathan Stoddard (Furry Little Christmas), Kate Orsini (NCIS), Kaleigh Macchio (The Wayfarer), Melanie Rae Wendt (The Year of the Dog), and others take on roles, similar to McTavish, Drago from Just Go With It, and The Fix.
Smith, Joe Borden, and Eden Matson produce the movie, which was shot near Glacier National Park.
As a gamer, I’d say about this movie: “Montana isn’t just some scenery; it’s a living, breathing character in the film, mirroring the raw beauty and quiet resilience of the people portrayed. It’s an adventure that I believe will deeply resonate with viewers, reflecting their own principles and strength.
In certain U.S. cinemas, a film titled “Somewhere in Montana” will premiere on January 10, 2025. By the end of the same month, it will be shown at more than 500 different venues across the country.
