Goldberg Reveals Triple H Called Him About WWE Retirement Match

Goldberg, due to retire soon, has disclosed that it was Triple H who contacted him concerning their final match in WWE. In October, Goldberg garnered attention following a fiery argument with Gunther at WWE Bad Blood.

During the performance, Gunther started provoking Goldberg, who was there with his loved ones on the sidelines. The Ring General’s harsh words triggered the Hall of Famer to jump over the barrier as a response. But the security personnel intervened promptly to avoid any physical fight.

Following a fierce confrontation in November 2024, Goldberg announced his intention to rejoin WWE in 2025 for what would be his final bout. The fiery encounter with Gunther at WWE Bad Blood has fueled rumors that the Ring General might be his last adversary.

Legendary athlete expresses enthusiasm for the proposal, acknowledging the underlying strain between them. However, the specific date and competitor for Goldberg’s final bout are yet to be determined. Notably, Goldberg disclosed that Triple H reached out to him personally to talk about the retirement match, signifying a significant shift in his departure strategy.

Goldberg revealed that Triple H called him to discuss his WWE retirement match

During an appearance on The Ariel Helwini Show, Goldberg spoke about being taken aback when Triple H contacted him during work hours. It turned out that the WWE’s Chief Content Officer was trying to chat with him regarding his upcoming retirement bout.

He shared that one day, while working on his tractor, cutting the grass on his property, he received a surprising phone call from Hunter [Triple H]. Initially, he didn’t recognize the number and hung up, but eventually they spoke. He was both amazed and grateful for the call, feeling humbled that Hunter would consider him. It turned out that Hunter had seen an interview where he expressed his belief that he deserved a retirement match, and if he was still interested in discussing this possibility, they could talk about it.

He added, “It shows that something from my past must have warranted such respect, as I feel I’ve earned it. We all understand it was a strategic move in the end. The exact extent is unknown. However, I believe he genuinely felt that if it was what I wanted, then I deserved it. It took them that long to reach out. I wasn’t going to ask for it; I don’t operate that way. If I had to go through a difficult situation like in Saudi, so be it.” [Credit: ewrestlingnews]
