Glen Powell Cast in New Sci-Fi Movie The Natural Order, Mufasa’s Barry Jenkins Will Direct

Glen Powell has been cast in a sci-fi movie titled The Natural Order.

Upcoming movie “The Natural Order,” produced by Universal Pictures, is adapted from an upcoming novel penned by Matt Aldrich. Renowned director Barry Jenkins, known for his recent work on “Mufasa: The Lion King” for Disney, will be at the helm of this new project.

At present, specifics about the film’s storyline are being kept secret. Nevertheless, Deadline reports that the movie is being marketed as a suspenseful, advanced science fiction tale centered around the chase for immortality.

Most recently, Powell appeared as Tyler Owens in the 2024 sequel to Twister titled Twisters. Earlier on in his acting journey, he graced our screens in films like Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), The Expendables 3 (2014), Everybody Wants Some!! and Hidden Figures, both released in 2016.

Following his collaboration with Tom Cruise in Top Gun: Maverick (2022), Powell gained widespread recognition and proceeded to act in films such as Anyone but You (2023) and Hit Man (2023). Upcoming projects for Powell include Edgar Wright’s adaptation of The Running Man (expected release this year) and John Patton Ford’s Huntington, which currently lacks a specified launch date.

Moreover, he’s set to star as the main character in Hulu’s yet-to-be-released Chad Powers series, with an anticipated premiere this autumn.

Jenkins and Aldrich are modifying the draft of ‘The Natural Order’ from Aldrich’s unwritten manuscript.

Powell is making the movie in collaboration with Dan Cohen at Barnstorm. Meanwhile, Adele Romanaski and Mark Ceryak are producing it under the Pastel label they jointly hold with Jenkins. Additionally, Jewerl Keats Ross is in discussions to produce, while Erik Baiers will supervise the project for Universal Pictures.

A release date for The Natural Order has not yet been announced by Universal Pictures.
