Gio Ponti’s Iconic Dezza Armchair Returns in a Limited Edition by Poltrona Frau

To mark the 60th anniversary of the renowned design, Italian furniture manufacturer Poltrona Frau is revealing a special edition of Gio Ponti’s classic Dezza armchair as a tribute to this timeless masterpiece.

In the realm of post-war Italian design, Gio Ponti made a profound mark, leaving his imprint on architecture, ceramics, interior design, and product creation. His designs transitioned from Art Deco and classical styles to encompass Rationalism and the Modern Movement. Some of his notable accomplishments include designing the iconic Pirelli skyscraper in Milan – a celebrated city landmark – and contributing significantly to the establishment of the prestigious Compasso d’Oro design award.

Created in 1965, the Dezza armchair marked Poltrona Frau’s new design trajectory after their move to Tolentino in 1962. This exclusive edition showcases an unprecedented design on the Pelle Frau® ColorSphere Impact Less leather fabric.

The exclusive, one-of-a-kind armchair comes in graceful hues of Panna and Iris, reminiscent of the vibrant designs Ponti crafted for the Hotel Parco dei Principi in Sorrento. The fabric design features a replica of an original, unseen sketch by Ponti, showcasing 26 intricately designed hand illustrations, each with its own distinctive style and label.

Each of the 60 unique Dezza Limited Edition armchairs comes with a numbered metal tag engraved on its back. These exclusive pieces can be ordered through Poltrona Frau’s online store until April 1, 2025.
