As a dedicated fan of gripping procedural dramas, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming third season of Will Trent! The cliffhanger at the end of season 2 left me reeling and eager for more. Gina Rodriguez joining the cast as a series regular is the cherry on top of an already tantalizing storyline.
Will Trent is getting some major star power as Gina Rodriguez will be joining in season 3!
Fans of the procedural series are still in shock following the explosive finale of season 2. It was revealed that Angie, portrayed by Erika Christensen, discovered that her young protégé, Crystal, had been avenging past sex offenses by killing them. Tragically, Crystal met her untimely end, and Angie found herself trying to conceal the crimes in the process.
However, Will (Ramón Rodriguez) discovered not only that Angie had lied but also that she falsely claimed responsibility for killing the abuser Lenny, when it was actually Crystal who committed the act. For a moment, he contemplated keeping silent to allow him and Angie to build a life together, but ultimately, he was compelled to arrest her for evidence tampering and providing false testimony.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but reflect on how the gaming saga took an unexpected turn at the end of this season. Angie found herself behind bars, while Will decided to hit the road and leave our virtual town. The anticipation for what lies ahead is palpable, yet we have to wait until early 2025 before we get another fix of season 3 action.
Fortunately, once it does take place, there’s an exciting new addition as Deadline has confirmed that Gina Rodriguez will now be a series regular. Known for bursting onto the scene in 2014 with her starring role in the CW dramedy “Jane the Virgin,” which garnered her a Golden Globe and catapulted her to fame, Rodriguez later appeared in the ABC comedy “Not Dead Yet,” which was unfortunately canceled after two seasons. It’s wonderful news to see her quickly securing another acting role for a major ABC series.
Who does Gina Rodriguez play in Will Trent season 3?
According to the deadline, I’ll be stepping into the shoes of Marion Alba, a charming and self-assured Assistant District Attorney fresh in Atlanta. My initial meeting with Will doesn’t go as planned, but things take an unexpected turn when we discover we need to join forces to delve into the criminal underworld of Atlanta gangs.
Based on my years of experience as a detective, I can say that it isn’t always easy to predict the actions of individuals like Will, who are known for their unconventional behavior. However, it seems that Will is returning to the GBI after an apparent absence from the city. Despite appearances, it might have just been Will taking a much-needed break following his forced arrest of Angie. But given his character and the drastic changes we’ve seen him undergo in the past due to his actions, I wouldn’t be surprised if this latest change turns out to be quite dramatic. After all, when it comes to people like Will, the unexpected is often the norm.
Is it plausible that Marion could develop into a romantic interest for Will? Considering their roles as a police officer and an Assistant District Attorney, maintaining professionalism initially seems necessary due to the potential conflict of interest in their cases. However, given their close working relationship and Will’s current emotional state following his breakup with Angie, there might be room for something more. If this were to happen, it would mark a significant change in Will’s life as he navigates a new female influence.
Without a doubt, incorporating Rodriguez into the show promises a significant improvement. She’s demonstrated her acting skills superbly, and it’s not hard to envision her exchanging pleasant banter with Will, as well as fitting in seamlessly with the rest of the cast. Consequently, her joining the show can only elevate Will Trent season 3 to its best year thus far.
Will Trent returns to ABC in early 2025 for season 3.
