As a gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in the world of historical fiction and paranormal mysteries, I can wholeheartedly say that Ghosts has been a breath of fresh air. The latest episode, season 4, episode 6, was no exception. If you thought Sam would have an easy time with her non-fiction book, think again! Who knew Isaac had such strong feelings about sandwiches?
As a dedicated fan, when my beloved author’s publisher requests the crucial resource for their upcoming book, the chase begins. So, what unfolded in Ghosts’ fourth season, episode 6?
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Ghosts season 4, episode 6.
If you thought there might be a problem for Sam and Jay regarding the diary containing accurate details, you’d be correct. But what you likely didn’t foresee is that the diary’s contents were entirely about sandwich recipes.
It appears that Isaac has a dislike for sandwiches, and he took pains to document this in his diary. Unfortunately, this posed an issue for Sam, as she was tasked with verifying the authenticity of the source material for her non-fiction work.
Sam and Jay figure out how to make the diary work in Ghosts season 4, episode 6
As they awaited the arrival of the authenticator, Sam and Jay found themselves needing to act quickly. Fortunately, there was ample room within the diary for them to record their thoughts. Isaac, however, was cautious about this, as he was unwilling to commit anything to writing in case the British emerged victorious. He didn’t want his actions to be discovered, fearing that they would reveal him as a traitor.
It turned out that the B&B proprietors encountered a difficulty we all anticipated, stemming from Sam’s inability to distinguish between spirits and living beings. To put it frankly, the authenticator might have been wiser to enter the house dressed differently! Unaware of the authenticator’s presence, Sam shared freely without reservation.
For Sam, it sparked a recollection of a conversation with her publisher regarding their preferred genres. There seemed to be a high demand for vampire stories and light-hearted books set at the beach. Given this, Isaac’s tale could potentially be transformed into a vampire novel, fitting well within historical fiction.
It’s unfortunate for Isaac that his story won’t be shared, but it might be beneficial in the end. After all, imagine the buzz Sam would generate with a different perspective from the Revolutionary War! In fact, writing fiction books that could potentially become top sellers might serve her better in the long run, as she’ll have ample opportunities to grow and expand her work over time.
Trevor opens up about his life
Trevor seldom has opportunities to show his vulnerability. Through time, he’s found solace in being authentic among his spectral companions, yet it’s not something he feels entirely at ease with. Nevertheless, there are moments when such openness is crucial.
In the 6th episode of season 4 from the series “Ghosts”, the spectral beings stumble upon a snail. Jay unintentionally squashes it but doesn’t destroy it. This turns out to be a ghostly snail, and they decide to adopt it as a pet instead. Trevor initially shows indifference towards this new addition, but later we learn that he has developed a fondness for pets, especially since the beloved dog mentioned in his obituary was very dear to him. He had taken on the name Escar-Ghost.
Trevor finds himself feeling remorseful as he departs his closest companion. As pet guardians, we typically anticipate our pets’ passing before ours. Although it pains us, we understand their lifespan is relatively short. Fortunately, most pets don’t live exceptionally long lives, but there are instances where animals outlive their owners. Consequently, Trevor’s feelings of guilt are quite natural.
In the finale’s climax, there’s a sense that Trevor is about to experience something akin to being “drawn away” or “taken up.” But this isn’t his light; it belongs to Escar-Ghost. Admittedly, it moves as slowly as a snail, but at least one spirit gets to progress in the end.
Over the past four seasons, Trevor’s progression has been nothing short of amazing and I find myself deeply appreciating it. Although it pains me to say this, given the magnitude of his growth, it seems fitting that he should be the one to advance further than the rest.
Ghosts airs Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on CBS. Catch up on Paramount+.
