Ghost of Yotei Trailer Reveals PlayStation’s Tsushima Sequel

As a long-time fan who has traversed the tranquil landscapes of Tsushima and battled alongside Jin Sakai, the Ghost of Yotei trailer sent a shiver down my spine! The prospect of delving into another adventure in the “Ghost” series, this time set amidst the rugged beauty of Mount Yōtei in 1603, is beyond exciting.

At the end of this week’s State of Play event, Sony showcased a trailer for the upcoming addition to the “Ghost” series by Sucker Punch Productions, titled the Ghost of Yotei.

What happens in the Ghost of Yotei trailer?

The trailer doesn’t delve deeply into the plot, yet it does provide essential details. This upcoming game is set in the year 1603, over 300 years following the events of Ghost of Tsushima, and features a new protagonist named Atsu. Interestingly, the game will be situated in the territories around Mount Yotei, a colossal mountain that was once part of ancient Ezo (now recognized as Hokkaido in modern-day Japan).

The trailer highlights expansive vistas and striking graphics similar to those found in Ghost of Tsushima, hinting at the presence of a pursuer for Atsu, reminiscent of Jin’s predicament. There were glimpses of combat sequences too, along with the reintroduction of duels, a characteristic from the original game.

As stated by developers at Sucker Punch Productions on the PlayStation Blog, their aim for Ghost of Yotei is to delve deeper into the concept of “spirits” or “ghosts”. They’ve also shared that players will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in this game sometime in the year 2025.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but reminisce about my incredible journey with Sucker Punch Production’s debut “Ghost” title – the mesmerizing Ghost of Tsushima released in 2020. Stepping into the shoes of Jin Sakai, a valiant samurai, I found myself on a mission to thwart the Mongol invasion ravaging Japan and safeguard the sacred island of Tsushima. The game was nothing short of exceptional, captivating audiences with its minimalist aesthetic, immersive melee combat system, and a story that resonated deeply.

After the initial launch of Ghost of Tsushima, a Director’s Cut edition along with an additional expansion became available in the year 2021. Moreover, a PC adaptation of the game has been recently unveiled this year as well.
