As a seasoned gamer who’s been around since the days of 2D sprites and pixelated graphics, I can confidently say that the Oddworld series holds a special place in my heart. The memories of Abe’s rebellion against the Glukkons, or Munch’s epic odyssey through Oddworld, are etched deeply into my gaming history.
Among the cherished recollections from my childhood is the time I spent immersed in the world of Oddworld. From causing chaos among the unfortunate Sligs, to being utterly amazed (back then) by the graphics in Munch’s Odyssey of 2001.
It’s fortunate, especially if you haven’t tried any games from this series before, that you can obtain the entire collection for just $1 (or £1 if you’re located in the UK) through Fanatical right now!
What’s in the box?
If you’re still uncertain, aside from the fact that they seem fantastic, let me tell you this: For just a dollar, you’ll be receiving over $60 worth of games!
- Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee:
- Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus
- Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty: (A remake of Abe’s Oddysee)
- Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee
- Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD – which we loved and gave 8/10 in our review
- Soulstorm Enhanced Edition (the newest entry of the series, which isn’t the best – we gave it a 6.10 in our review, but still worth a punt)
If that’s not all, you also get all the bonus content, including:
- Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty – Alf’s Escape DLC
- Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty – Scrub Abe Costume
Keep in mind that at present, the cost will be significantly higher, regardless if you choose the discounted bundle, on Steam.
A Steal for Steam Deck
Although none of the Oddworld games have been officially verified for use on Steam Deck yet, it’s possible to play the latest two games in the series on Valve’s handheld device. For only a dollar, you can enjoy not just these two outstanding platformers, but also their earlier versions, which we’ve found run smoothly on the Steam Deck as well.
Here’s every game’s Steam Deck rating at the time of writing:
- Oddworld: Abe’s Exodus (Playable)
- Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey (Playable)
- Oddworld: Munch’s Odyssey (Unknown)
- Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD (Playable)
- Oddworld: New and Tasty (Playable)
- Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition (Playable)
On the Nintendo Switch OLED, you’ll encounter some minor issues occasionally, but generally speaking, these games function well. And let me tell you, for only a buck, it’s an incredible deal!
