George R.R. Martin Reveals Thoughts on Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

George R.R. Martin, the renowned writer behind the Song of Ice and Fire series, which serves as the foundation for HBO’s hit show Game of Thrones, has shared his thoughts about the upcoming spin-off series titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

In April 2023, HBO revealed plans for a spin-off, and filming on this long-awaited show commenced in February 2024. Based on George R.R. Martin’s novella series Tales of Dunk and Egg, this upcoming production will be another prequel to Game of Thrones, joining HBO’s previously announced series House of the Dragon.

slated for a late 2025 premiere, this upcoming series will center around characters Ser Duncan and Aegon V Targaryen, often referred to as “Egg.” George R.R. Martin announced in his blog that the Game of Thrones prequel has completed filming its first season.

Initially titled “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, this project is now completed. Previously, Ira Parker and his crew finished filming the first season several months ago and transitioned to post-production. George R.R. Martin revealed that he has viewed all six episodes, including the last two in rough draft form, and found them engaging. The author also praised the lead actors, Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell, who portray Dunk and Egg, stating they are outstanding.
