George Miller Teases “Another” ‘Mad Max’ Sequel May Be On Its Way

Movie director George Miller, fresh off the success of the revived Mad Max series, has hinted at the possibility of a forthcoming sequel.

According to an interview with Vulture, Miller hinted at the possibility of a new Mad Max movie sequel. He initially revived the series in 2015 with Mad Max: Fury Road and last year, released Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga featuring Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, among others. The Academy Award-winning director hinted to the press that if certain circumstances align, the project will move forward. He also mentioned having another script for the franchise, explaining that he often daydreams about it and has detailed notes for a screenplay. His report card as a child noted his frequent daydreaming as a potential drawback in school.

Miller discussed potential storylines for the franchise and future possibilities: “There are numerous tales to tell, yes, one of them resembles Mad Max. However, it’s not something I plan to do immediately because there are two projects I’m eager to tackle next. But if circumstances align in a certain way, who knows? It’s tricky; sometimes plans change due to unexpected events.” In the movie Fury Road, Tom Hardy played Max Rockatansky, the main character once enslaved and aiding Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa in escaping Hugh Keays-Byrne’s ruthless Immortan Joe and his five captive wives. The sequel featured Nicholas Hoult, Riley Keough, Zoë Kravitz, and Courtney Eaton. Last year, Taylor-Joy assumed Theron’s role.

So far nothing has been confirmed just yet.
