What happens in the Life Without Parole trailer?
Life Without Parole chronicles the life of Martorano, who was handed a life sentence without parole in 1984 due to marijuana-related charges. After spending 32 years behind bars, Martorano was freed in October 2015. The film delves into Martorano’s prison experience and how it reshaped his perspective on life. It also presents the narratives of other individuals.
Check out the exclusive Life Without Parole trailer below (watch other clips and trailers):
1984 saw Martorano admitting guilt for 19 charges related to drug possession and distribution, following the counsel of his lawyer. This led to a life imprisonment sentence, though the prosecution had suggested a term of 40 to 54 months. Eventually, he became the longest-serving first-time non-violent offender, spending over 30 years behind bars after filing more than 35 appeals and eventually being granted compassionate release.
In Philadephia, Raymond, Martorano’s father, was a well-known organized crime figure within the Philadelphia Crime Family. It was speculated that the extended prison term was used to compel Martorano to reveal information regarding his father’s illicit business activities. However, Martorano has consistently maintained his lack of knowledge concerning his father’s criminal dealings in the mob.
Life Without Parole, a documentary directed by Jill Frechie and produced by Frechie and John Ricciutti, is scheduled for digital release on November 5, 2024. This compelling production from Breaking Glass Pictures was produced by Main Line Television and runs for approximately an hour.
