Rory Gibson (the actor portraying Michael) expressed his faith that his character would emerge victorious in the custody dispute on “General Hospital”. Following a series of emotionally charged court proceedings, a decision was made regarding who would be granted guardianship over Wiley and Amelia. Willow had anticipated shared custody with Michael, but the outcome was not favorable to her expectations. In the end, Michael received full custody, leading Willow to experience a breakdown in emotional distress.
Here’s what Gibson had to say about the latest custody drama.
Rory Gibson talks Michael’s win against Willow in General Hospital
During an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Gibson expressed that he strongly identified with his on-screen persona. Furthermore, he elaborated that his character, Michael, was unwaveringly confident in his skills to prevail in the court case, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
Despite the challenging circumstances, Michael firmly believed within himself, ‘Absolutely not, I won’t lose,’ he asserted. He was anxious about the outcome because unpredictable events might occur, but I believe he had become so certain that he felt, ‘I must win this. I will win this. I must get my children. This situation has to go in my favor. There’s no other way it can turn out!’ Gibson added.
Following the resolution of the custody dispute, it became clear that Michael experienced a profound sense of relief. He considers this legal battle to be especially important, next only to the birth of his child with Sasha. Michael’s primary objective throughout this ordeal was to secure custody of the children and protect them from Drew’s influence, as Drew had a habit of manipulating those close to him.
Additionally, he shares in Willow’s emotional turmoil following the loss of her children’s custody and concedes that this situation brings a sense of sadness upon him. Yet, he recognizes that due to her own actions, she is the one who finds herself in this challenging predicament, and there is little he can do to change it.
Gibson acknowledged that while he’s glad the children are safe and will be with him, he’s also aware life won’t be as easy as before. He understands this turn of events will devastate Willow, which saddens him. However, he feels compelled to remain detached about the situation, viewing it as a consequence of her actions. Despite this, Gibson can’t help but feel a deep sense of sorrow and empathy for Willow, imagining how he’d feel if he were in her shoes and hadn’t been fortunate.
