General Hospital’s Katelyn MacMullen Knows Why Fans Are Frustrated With Willow

As a devoted fan myself, I can certainly empathize with the feelings of frustration shared by many when it comes to Katelyn MacMullen‘s character, Willow Tait, on General Hospital. Her unwavering loyalty towards Drew, despite his dubious actions, has sparked quite the uproar among viewers, and I can see why their voices are growing louder by the day.

Recently, MacMullen shared insights on why Willow appears oblivious to reality, the motivations behind her actions, and his delight in collaborating with the latest portrayer of Michael, Rory Gibson.

Katelyn MacMullen reflects on fans’ frustration with Willow in General Hospital

In a conversation with Soap Opera Digest, MacMullen admitted that Willow appears detached from the larger storyline, particularly in regards to Drew’s underhanded tactics. She commented, “It’s understandable why the audience is thinking, ‘Willow, open your eyes!'” She added that since she often films her individual scenes, she wasn’t fully privy to Drew’s manipulative strategies such as emotionally swaying Wiley during the custody dispute.

Despite the trouble that Drew has caused, Willow remains convinced he’s her best option for getting custody of her kids back. This decision, which ended in an unexpected proposal, has left fans puzzled, especially since she initially seemed unsure about accepting it. MacMullen speculates that Willow is acting from a place of emotional fragility and sorrow.

She’s left with very little, and there aren’t many individuals she can rely on or seek assistance from. It seems like this level of despair…is what ultimately leads her to consent to marry in the first place,” MacMullen expressed.

Initially, Willow’s ex, Michael, has made efforts to intervene, but MacMullen points out that Willow perceives his concern as misplaced. “She doesn’t realize that Michael is trying to protect her,” she clarified. Instead, Willow interprets his opposition as self-serving attempts to prevent shared custody, which only strengthens her resolve towards Drew.

Despite the tumultuous emotions, MacMullen has discovered happiness collaborating with Rory Gibson. She considers him “extraordinary,” commending his effortless adaptation to the role and his commitment to the character.

As the General Hospital plot progresses, it appears that MacMullen shares the same eagerness with viewers to find out how Willow will respond when she ultimately discovers the truth about Drew.
