Katelyn MacMullen says Willow ‘snapped’ after losing custody case on General Hospital
29-year-old actress Katelyn MacMullen recently shared insights on Willow Tait’s emotional turmoil after the custody case with Michael Corinthos, as discussed with Soap Opera Digest. When inquired about whether her character experienced “shock” or “snapped,” following her courtroom breakdown, she clarified that it was a mental collapse instead.
In MacMullen’s opinion, when one encounters extremely distressing news, sometimes their mind doesn’t immediately grasp it as it happens. She explained that Willow briefly disconnected from reality upon understanding the situation she found herself in.
MacMullen described Willow’s predicament as a form of deep-seated trauma that suddenly surfaced, or in other words, was awakened. In essence, she suggested that what Willow was going through could be considered a mental crisis.
The article noted that, even after being released from the hospital and going back to Drew’s place, Willow seemed somewhat bewildered. Moreover, it mentioned that Drew’s home felt quite vacant due to the absence of Wiley and Amelia.
MacMullen responded by acknowledging the outlet’s comments, noting that the character “snapped.”
She clearly experienced a point when she seemed to lose control in the courtroom, and I suspect there might be some delay in her emotional processing, perhaps,” she explained. “It’s almost like [she was] struggling to manage her feelings of void, which could be causing her to momentarily lose composure.
The Daytime Emmy Award winner emphasized that Willow’s world essentially revolved around her children, making it almost inconceivable for her to envision a life devoid of them. She admitted that she couldn’t fathom the emotional impact losing custody of one’s own kids could have on someone.
MacMullen mentioned that there’s a wide range of possibilities when considering Willow’s present mental condition. She added that Willow’s future behavior could be somewhat hard to foresee, hinting that viewers ought to brace themselves for some surprising developments.
