In an interview with TV Insider, Jackson shared that he and the General Hospital team had made genuine efforts to keep him on the show for a more extended period, but unfortunately, those attempts were unsuccessful. He also mentioned that he hadn’t planned on leaving so soon. He explained, “It was a real, heartfelt attempt from myself and General Hospital to make it last longer. The goal was to stay on for a more prolonged duration.

Through open disclosure, he shared the underlying cause of his departure – an exploration into whether it was feasible for him to harmonize his professional commitments with his family life. Yet, the frequent trips between his home in Tennessee and his job in California ultimately proved too difficult to manage effectively.

He mentioned that since his attempt was somewhat of an exploration, there had always been a chance that it might not fit with the family’s dynamics. At times, he felt hopeful that he could strike a balance between the family and his time, but ultimately, one must rely on faith and do what feels right. Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t sustain it in the end.

Furthermore, he shared that he approached each day individually, striving to manage things effectively. He also expressed gratitude towards executive producer Frank Valentini for his open-mindedness and advancing Lucky’s storyline so far. Overwhelmed by work-life balance issues, Jackson eventually chose to part ways with the show.
