After several months of enduring blackmail, toxic relationships, and emotionally taxing storylines, fans of General Hospital are expressing their dissatisfaction with the show’s recent plot developments. Although the long-running soap opera is known for its dramatic twists, viewers believe that prominent characters such as Drew, Willow, Sonny, and Nina have become emotionally draining due to storylines that appear to become increasingly complex without a satisfying resolution.
General Hospital fans aren’t loving ongoing storylines with Drew, Sonny, and others
Fans of General Hospital have been expressing strong criticism towards the ongoing storyline involving Drew, as it appears his actions are becoming increasingly manipulative. A figure previously known for upholding honor, Drew has recently found himself in a position where he’s using threats against Carly to assist Willow regain access to her children, despite the fact that Willow herself opted for Drew over her own kids.
Despite Michael clearly stating that Willow could visit her children if she chose to leave Drew and Sasha, she continues to hold them responsible and expresses this in ways that have made her less sympathetic to many viewers. Her temporary kidnapping of Daisy, Michael, and Sasha’s baby was seen by some as going too far. The fact that Sasha took the child with her when she left Port Charles added to the criticism. As one fan expressed on Facebook, “Willow is still acting irrationally and playing the victim… Drew keeps manipulating situations and escaping consequences.
In other parts of the storyline, viewers are left puzzled by the shifting allegiances and repeated scheming among the mature characters. The conflict between Sonny and Sidwell has escalated to kidnapping and extortion. Concurrently, Tracy is using dirt on Nina – her past fling with Drew – as leverage. In the most recent episode, Tracy threatened Nina, telling her to sway public sentiment against Sonny or else she would reveal Nina’s secret to Willow.
As a dedicated viewer, I must admit that the ongoing power games in this soap opera have started to feel repetitive for me. One enthusiastic commentator exclaimed, “Enough is enough! It’s high time for Drew and Willow’s downfall! It’s about time Nina and Drew are exposed. And it’s time for a genuine romance between Michael and Sasha.” Others have chosen to take a short break from the series, commenting, “I’m going to step away for a few weeks; hopefully, that will refresh things. It’s lost its charm.” Another viewer succinctly summarized, “The excessiveness of these storylines is overwhelming and draining because they seem so unrealistic, making me lose interest.
