Gautham Vasudev Menon drops a rare throwback pic with Suriya, taking fans back to the iconic Kaakha Kaakha days

As a lifestyle expert who has been following Tamil cinema for decades, I must say that it’s always a joy to reminisce about the golden days of Tamil cinema, and one such memory that stands out is Suriya and Gautham Vasudev Menon‘s collaboration in Kaakha Kaakha. The throwback picture shared by GVM takes me back to those days when Kaakha Kaakha was not just a movie, but a revolution in Tamil cinema.

In the past, actor Suriya and filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon worked together on memorable movies such as Kaakha Kaakha and Vaaranam Aayiram. Recently, the director shared a touching throwback moment from their earlier times.

In a recent Instagram post, GVM (the director) labeled a photo as “Pieces from the past… A trip down memory lane to Kaakha Kaakha era!” This image included both GVM and Suriya, as well as the film’s primary villain, Jeevan.

Check out the throwback picture from Kaakha Kaakha Days ft. Suriya and Gautham Menon:

In the film Kaakha Kaakha, Suriya took on the primary role, portraying a police officer character. This gripping action-thriller, helmed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, tells the story of Anbuselvan, an upright cop who grew up as an orphan and serves as an ACP in Chennai city.

The main character, accompanied by his group of like-minded law enforcers, embarks on a mission to eradicate criminal organizations within the city. At the same time, he develops feelings for a woman named Maya, who is a school teacher. Unfortunately, complications arise when the sibling of a deceased gangster becomes determined to take the man’s life, leading to a chain reaction of chaotic incidents that form the crux of the movie.

Besides Suriya, the film also featured Jyotika as the main character, along with a talented group of actors such as Jeevan, Daniel Balaji, Devadarshini, Manobala, Yog Japee, and several others in significant roles. The movie garnered overwhelmingly positive feedback and is widely recognized as one of Suriya’s initial box office hits.

Man, I can’t stop gushing about this movie! It was so successful that they remade it in 2004 under the title Gharshana, featuring Venkatesh and Asin in the main roles. Then, the remake was done again in Hindi as Force with John Abraham, and in Kannada with the late Chiranjeevi Sarja, titled Dandam Dashagunam. This film just keeps on giving!

In the near future, Suriya is busy preparing for the premiere of his upcoming film titled Kanguva, helmed by director Siva. This production promises to be a unique blend of fantasy and action, with Suriya portraying two distinct roles – a character from a historical era and another set in the future. Additionally, the movie will mark the Tamil cinema debut for Bobby Deol and Disha Patani, who will play leading roles alongside Suriya.

Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that the actor has completed filming for his romantic-action project titled Suriya 44, directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Following this, he will embark on a new venture with director RJ Balaji in an upcoming movie.
