New TV shows based on Gangs of New York, The Holdovers, and more are being developed at Miramax.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’ve just learned some exciting news! It appears that Miramax is working on new TV shows or limited series based on Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York and Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers. The CEO, Jonathan Glickman, expressed hope that Payne might participate in The Holdovers project, but as of now, his involvement remains uncertain. I can hardly wait to see what unfolds!
What other TV shows is Miramax developing besides Gangs of New York and The Holdovers?
In addition to “Gangs of New York” and “The Holdovers,” Miramax is also working on the creation of new television series, inspired by the films “Chocolat” from 2000 and “The English Patient” from 1996.
Back in November 2022, Deadline first broke the news about the Chocolat TV series, while details about The English Patient show were shared a year earlier in 2021. Since then, there has been minimal or no updates regarding both productions.
The Martin Scorsese film “Gangs of New York” hit theaters in 2002. This historical drama was recognized with several nominations for Academy Awards, among them Best Picture and Best Director. The star-studded cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Daniel Day-Lewis, Cameron Diaz, and others.
2023’s release, “The Holdovers”, garnered several Oscar nominations, notably Best Picture and Best Actor for Paul Giamatti. Furthermore, Da’Vine Joy Randolph took home the award for Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards. The film also features Dominic Sessa in its cast.
The film “Chocolat” is a romance production, adapted from the 1999 novel of the same title by Joanne Harris. Lasse Hallström directed this enchanting movie, featuring Juliette Binoche, Victoire Thivisol, Judi Dench, Alfred Molina, Johnny Depp, and Carrie-Anne Moss in key roles. The film garnered multiple Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Original Score.
In conclusion, “The English Patient” is a romantic war drama, adapted from a 1992 novel by Michael Ondaatje. Featuring Ralph Fiennes and Binoche, the movie was both written and directed by Anthony Minghella. It garnered numerous accolades at the Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress, among others.
