Gaming Highlights From Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024

As someone who’s been through countless gaming generations, the Gamescom 2024 opening night live was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride of nostalgia and anticipation! The return of Sniper Elite, Borderlands, and Little Nightmares had me reminiscing about old times while also pumping me up for the new adventures to come.

2024’s Gamescom has officially begun, and Geoff Keighley unveiled some tantalizing previews of fantastic trailers during the opening event.

Sniper Elite Resistance

2025 marks the arrival of the latest edition of Sniper Elite, available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, PS5, and PS4. In this installment, players will assume the role of a sniper during World War II, engaging in battles against the Nazis in occupied France. The game boasts exceptional sniping mechanics, stealth, and tactical third-person combat that sets it apart from others in its genre.

It will also be available for the Xbox Game Pass on day one.

RoadCraft

In 2025, a fresh game developed by the creators of SnowRunner and MudRunner is set to launch, introducing the construction simulation genre to a novel environment. This game will be playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and personal computers.

Your task involves assisting cities and their essential structures. By employing your construction equipment, you’ll be responsible for removing debris or revitalizing factories that have been temporarily inactive.

Borderlands 4

In 2025, we’ll find ourselves as a renowned Vault Hunter once more, however, this adventure unfolds on an entirely new planet.

We’re crossing our fingers that this game won’t be as disappointing as the Borderlands movie.

Goat Simulator Remastered

The honor for the most amusing trailer is bestowed upon… Goat Simulator Remastered! After poking fun at every poorly executed remaster and remake from the past year, we were met with the announcement that this goofy goat will return in the year 2024.

The enhanced version of Goat Simulator, titled “Goat Simulator Remastered”, is set to launch on platforms such as Steam, Epic Games Store, Microsoft Store, Xbox Series S/X, and PlayStation 5. Notably, this updated edition includes all the DLCs that were part of the original PC version.

Dying Light: The Beast

Kyle Crane returns in the new Dying Light: The Beast standalone adventure! This thrilling zombie parkour experience is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. Unfortunately, we don’t have a confirmed release date at this time.

Path of Exile 2 – Early Access

As an eager fan, I’m thrilled to share that the challenger of Diablo IV is setting foot in Early Access on my calendar date, November 15! This exciting journey begins not just on PC, but also on Xbox Series X/S and PS5, making it a multiplatform experience for all of us.

Dune Awakening

The MMO set in the iconic sandy planet Arrakis showcased some of its gameplay elements. In this open-world environment, players can craft, construct, pilot aircraft, and drive vehicles, with combat being a significant aspect as well. It is scheduled for release on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in the early part of 2025.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII

In the latest unveiling of Sid Meier’s new Civilization, they showcased some innovative gameplay mechanics and set a release date. Patiently, fans will be able to embark on their empire-building journey as early as February 11, 2025.

Prime Video’s Secret Level Series

On December 10, 2024, Amazon Prime Video will debut a fresh series consisting of fifteen original episodes. This captivating series, developed by the creators of LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS, showcases collaborations with well-known video games such as God of War, Warhammer 40K, and Sifu.

Little Nightmares 3

In the third installment of the horror game series, you’ll find yourself not facing the terrors alone. Two main characters are featured this time around, allowing for cooperative play with a friend or solo experience alongside an NPC companion. The anticipated release date is 2025, available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

The much-anticipated Indiana Jones game from Bethesda is set to launch in two stages: Firstly, it’s arriving on Xbox Series X|S and PC on December 9, 2024. Secondly, for PlayStation 5 users, the release is scheduled for spring of 2025. Notably, it will be available on Game Pass from day one as well.

Mafia: The Old Country

The final installment of the Mafia series has been allocated as the new prequel, this time immersing players in the ruthless underbelly of Sicily during the 1900s. At present, a specific release date hasn’t been disclosed, but the developers have promised to share more details with us in December 2024.

There were so many amazing announcements in the presentation! What was your favorite part?
