As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I must say that the recent Flame Fatales event by Games Done Quick was nothing short of spectacular! The energy, skill, and camaraderie displayed by the Frame Fatales crew was truly inspiring.
Over the past week, the women at Games Done Quick successfully concluded an action-packed fundraising event. The Frame Fatales group wrapped up their summer Flame Fatales event, raising a total of $118,012 USD for Malala Fund. This brings their grand total raised across all Frame Fatales events to over $1 million.
2019’s Flame Fatales event showcased several of this year and previous years’ most notable games. The grand finale was Super Mario Odyssey, with the popular Talkatoo% category, where players collect Moons as normal, but the sequence is set by Talkatoo, a bird that offers guidance throughout each world. Remarkably, CheeseJay finished this run in 1 hour, 48 minutes and 35 seconds.
Among the games showcased were Other Crab’s Treasure, Splatoon 3: Side Order, and Alan Wake 2, which have been released within the past year. Flame Fatales also followed the pattern of recent primary GDQ events by featuring unconventional runs, such as Rock Band 3, Uno, and The Sims 4. On Wednesday evening’s Bayonetta 3 run, the all-women and femmes speedrunning event surpassed the $1 million lifetime mark.
The excitement generated by Games Done Quick (GDQ) won’t stop just yet! Although details regarding next year’s Frame Fatales events are still unclear, you can expect GDQ’s upcoming major event at this year’s TwitchCon during the Games Done Quick Express. Moreover, it was announced during the Summer Games Done Quick 2023 that Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 will make a comeback in Pittsburgh, PA from January 5-12, 2025. Anyone wanting to catch up on any missed runs from the past week can visit the official Games Done Quick YouTube channel instead.
