As a fervent supporter of both gaming communities and humanitarian efforts, I am truly moved by Games Done Quick‘s swift response to the crisis caused by Hurricane Helene. In the face of adversity, these game enthusiasts have once again shown their compassion and commitment to making a difference.
The Games Done Quick team didn’t anticipate another major fundraising event so soon after TwitchCon. However, reality took an unexpected turn with Hurricane Helene causing significant damage in the southeastern United States. As thousands of people require assistance, Games Done Quick is mobilizing to organize a large-scale charity event called Disaster Relief Done Quick, aimed at aiding those impacted by this destructive hurricane.
From Oct. 11th-13th we will be holding a Disaster Relief Done Quick event to help support those who have been affected by Hurricane Helene.
Donations during the event will go to @DirectRelief
Run submissions are open now until Oct. 6th 11:59PM ET:

According to updates across the organization’s platforms, including their Games Done Quick X account (previously Twitter), the Disaster Relief Done Quick event will take place from October 11, Friday at 3 p.m. Pacific Time/6 p.m. Eastern Time, and it is scheduled to end on October 13, Sunday at 8:59 p.m. Pacific Time/11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. All proceeds from this event will be directly channeled to Direct Relief, an organization that aims to help those affected by Hurricane Helene. Notably, Direct Relief has already extended aid to more than 50 healthcare providers in the storm-affected regions. With millions still without power and ongoing life-threatening floods in numerous areas, Direct Relief continues to offer emergency medical supplies, hygiene kits, and transportation support to those in need.
For those who are aware, Games Done Quick is now welcoming submissions for their upcoming event and speeding up the approval procedure due to time constraints. Unfortunately, they won’t accept randomizer runs that necessitate real-time tracking on the stream, as things need to move swiftly. The complete list of games for DRDQ will be announced shortly. Don’t forget to catch all the weekend’s runs live on the Games Done Quick Twitch channel!
After successfully raising $36,402 USD for AbleGamers during TwitchCon in San Diego, CA, Games Done Quick is now shifting its attention to an upcoming fundraising event. Importantly, the dates and deadlines for Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 remain unchanged. We’ll continue to track the progress of Games Done Quick and Direct Relief as we approach Disaster Relief Done Quick and beyond. Stay tuned to Shacknews for updates!
